Proposed (Items) Changes

rambi_crate

Here are some options I thought may be fun to incorporate into the new Super Smash Bros games, including which veteran items I would dismiss and which I would make adjustments to.

SCRAPPED ITEMS

1. LIP’S STICK

2. SMOKE BALL

3. SPRING

4. DRAGOON (CONFIRMED IN)

5. TEAM HEALER

TWEAKED ITEMS

1. POISON SHROOM

  • No longer is it a darker red, but now a purple mushroom with squinted eyes as the video game gods intended. Further it does not make you small but instead does moderate damage over time.

2. LIGHTNING BOLT (CONFIRMED)

  • It doesn’t really change other than becoming the only item in multi-player mode to make characters tiny.

3. BEAM SWORD (CONFIRMED)

  • The beam sword was pink, then blue and now it should be green.

4. HOME RUN BAT (CONFIRMED)

  • Gone are the days when the man with the bat could KO freely. There would now be a 50% chance of the bat breaking when successfully performing it’s smash attack. Every consecutive smash attack that makes contact the probability of it breaking goes up by 10%, effectively limiting it’s successful uses to 6.

5. CRACKER LAUNCHER

  • With the release of Kid Icarus: Uprising, the name should be appropriately changed to “Fireworks Cannon”.

6. PARTY BALL (CONFIRMED)

  • New look, new sound effect and good to go!

NEW! ITEMS

1. LIGHTNING BARRIER (Sonic the Hedgehog 3)

  • Performing a double jump releases static electricity in all direction around the user for mild damage. It also attracts coins to the user in a coin battle.

2. QUAKE MEDALLION (TLOZ: A Link to the Past)

  • A 1-time use item that would temporarily stun all enemies on the same platform.

3. CRAYON (SSB4)

  • All players would be turned into 2D cel-shaded drawing of themselves projected onto the background with thin white borders. No items can be picked up while in sketch form.

4. PAL PILL (Paper Mario: TTYD)

  • Character is surrounded by several 8-bit miniature versions of themselves. These miniatures act as in Paper Mario, following your every movement. They can do mild damage and act as a shield. A single blow, no matter how powerful would destroy each one.

5. BALL and CHAIN (TLOZ: Twilight Princess)

  • A slow moving melee weapon with high damage and knockback output. However it slows the user and limits the user to 1 jump instead of 3.

6. OIL DRUM (Donkey Kong Country)

  • It can be thrown at the ground creating a puddle or at an opponent for moderate damage and knock-back. In either instance the oil will become susceptible to fire, causing extra (1.5x) damage to the opponent or allowing the ground to burn for a time if lit aflame. If not lit, the ground will remain oily and cause characters to slide much like on an icy platform.

7. ANIMAL CRATE (Donkey Kong Country)

  • There are 2 feasible options. The first being Rambi whom you would ride and would do immense damage to enemies sending them flying. The second is Squawks who would allow for unlimited flight, but your only attacks would be to shoot coconuts. Squitter maybe a close 3rd option. In either case, one strike and the animal will run off scared.

8. WHIP (TLOZ: Skyward Sword)

  • Use the whip to damage enemies, grab items or coins from afar and even steal the items held by other players!

9. MUSIC BOX (Super Mario Bros 3)

  • Nearby enemies are put to sleep for a short time.

10. RED SHELL (SSBM)

  • It would act the same as in Melee. It would target the closest player and move left and right trying to attack them, even if it is the person who activated the shell.

11. CUCCO (TLOZ: A Link to the Past) (CONFIRMED)

  • A seemingly underwhelming item, the cucco would walk around and peck the ground occasionally. It can be struck or picked up and thrown. If struck, a barrage of cucco’s will fly in and attack the player who struck it. If thrown, it will only summon a barrage if struck by another player. Ideal to throw at the noob spamming fire breath in the corner.

12. TNT BARREL (Donkey Kong Country)

  • Much like mixing and exploding crate with an item barrel. It explodes on contact causing high damage and knock-back. It can however be thrown to roll at an opponent as well. Mobile Mayhem 101.

13. CLOUD FLOWER

  • Can be used to create cloud-like platforms for a short time. Ideal for instances where you can’t get back to the stage by simply jumping.

14. MAGNET (Pokemon)

  • Coins, items and even players are attracted to you like a gravity well. May even cause a character to join you should you be KO’d by a melee attack. This does not count as a held item but is more like the Franklin Badge or Screw Attack.

15. COCONUT GUN (Donkey Kong 64)

  • Fires coconuts for moderate damage and high knock-back. Coconuts maybe picked up once shot and used as a throwing item for mild damage. They can also be caught while being shot at.

16. DRINK OF THE GODS (Kid Icarus: Uprising)

  • Maxima Tomatoes restore 50% damage, Heart Containers restor 100%, and this item would fully restore any character to 0%.

17. DEMON VINE (Kid Icarus: Uprising)

  • Wherever the item is thrown a thorny plant would grow from the ground causing damage to enemies who come into contact with it. This would be a great item to make a getaway or to ensure an enemy doesn’t make it back to the stage. If it hits a character they would have the plant grow on them causing damage over time and preventing jumping.

18. GUST BELLOWS (TLOZ: Skyward Sword) (CONFIRMED)

  • Used to blows small cyclones that would push enemies away, though causing no damage. Similar to Mario’s FLUDD but with wind power.

19. VANISH CAP (Super Mario 64)

  • Revival of the cloaking device, allowing for a player to become transparent for a short while.

20. BEEHIVE (Animal Crossing) (CONFIRMED)

  • A throw-able item that would spawn a swarm of tiny bees to attack the nearest character.

21. WATERMELON (Yoshi’s Island)

  • The player would place it in their mouth causing them to have “chipmunk cheeks” and would press and hold the “B” buttom to fire watermelon seeds in a straight line for mild damage. The effect would continue until all seeds are used (between 15-20).

22. COIN BAG (Mario Party)

  • Instead of having gold, silver and copper coins, there would simply be small coins (1 count), large coins (5 count) and coin bags (10 count). These of course would be the most rare and would require a powerful attack be used.

23. EGGPLANT BOMB (Kid Icarus: Uprising)

  • A projectile that would turn a player into an eggplant. While in this form, you cannot do anything except sit there until you transform back. You can still take damage, but you will not be able to be knocked back any further than a new sandbag.

24. SHINY STICKER (Paper Mario: Sticker Star)

  • These are special rare stickers that appear shiny in appearance and can only be acquired by defeating a hidden mini-boss or by completing some kind of great feat or achievement. Shiny stickers are notably different in that they can be re-used if peeled off a character trophy. Being that they are reusable, only 1 of each sticker is available in the game. Also their abilities go beyond that of a normal sticker. For example, the Shiny Mini Mushroom would make the character permanently tiny in the story mode, allowing them access to hidden rooms, allowing the to walk on water and climb up wall; however it all means they get knocked back much further from enemy attacks.
