Universe: Metal Gear
Debut: Metal Gear (1987)
Background: Snake is a hardened veteran of death, having been part of a elite forces unit by the name of FOXHOUND. Snake carries out his missions stealthily if possible. Though he claims to be a proponent of friendship and love, some who know him claim that he enjoys killing. He is a strong man and strategist. He lives his life alone and prefers his seclusion. After being betrayed by Big Boss, Snake is called upon in his games to deal with terrorist threats relating to the Metal Gear war machines. Snake has no real attachments and buries his emotions deep inside.
Reasoning: Snake was 3rd party and felt out of place in SSBB.
Thoughts: I never liked Snake in SSB. Nothing against his own series, I loved MGS. But he didn’t fit the aesthetic and his inclusion felt forced. Not to get him in, but more like forcing us as fans to try and accept the decision. It just doesn’t work, and I don’t think i am alone on this one. The chances of seeing him return in SSB4 are slim I would think. In my world, he would be the first character cut for the new games.
